we have just received an extension for visitor permit untill Jan 4th 2012, it says on there by remarks: TR status maintained as per R183(6) since appl for pr has received IA , TM/E
does anyone know what all those letters mean???

ALSO , on ecass it says :
on Jan 4 th we have received the information we required, thank you for providing this information.

they had asked for info on kids meds , ect wich we cannot provide we send them a letter that we are willing to sign a declaration that we will never sponser anyone????????

anyone ?????????? not sure if this is all good or bad???????????

My guess would be Initial Assessment and T(???) Medical Examination.

Yeah I would agree that I think IA would mean Initial Assessment
But the TM/E* part is just the initials of the IO who approved your extension.

I just got visa extension last week. I sent it first week of via old school post office. That was my third visa extension and I'm from visa exempt country. I got it till April 4th and I'm going to be sponsored outland (hopefully that will be soon :) ).
Hope that helps Milu

Thank you for sharing!
I sent mine mid of October 2010, and still nothing. Im not worried, cause immigration website says they are processing application received September 2010 ( http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/temp.asp )

Congrats of yours though!!! I hope I get mine too :)

Mine was sent in mid November 2010 (snail mail), the site says they are working on applications received on Sept 14th 2010 at present.
CIC should offer a degree course in "how to wait" or "Professional waiting" :D

Of course the good news is, at least I am in the country with my wife.

We had sent ours in April and didn't receive it til the very end of July. We asked for 6 months they gave us almost a year. Will have to do another if were not approved in a couple months.
