Hi Good People,
I am writing for one of my beloved friends in Manitoba, who faced a very cruel tragedy in his life. He came here to pursue his M.Sc. in Civil Engineering with a full scholarship. Just one month after finishing his M.Sc. when he was busy for looking jobs he found that he was suffering from Brain Cancer. So he could not attend any full-time job. As a result, he could not apply for immigration. He is getting very good treatment here in Winnipeg. However, his post-graduation work permit will expire on December 2019. We don't want to send him to his own country in this situation the as health care system is way more developed here in Canada.

I have attached his full profile. Do you guys think he is eligible to apply for Humanitarian and Compassionate ground for his PR? Can anyone refer to any good lawyer/consultant or a good human being who can help us to save his dream?

He can certainly try applying under H&C - however it's impossible for any of us to say what his chances of approval will be. If he can afford it, it would be a very good idea to hire a lawyer to assist him with putting together a strong application. Generally speaking, it's difficult to get approved.

These days H&C are taking 2-3 years to process and he won't qualify for an open work permit until he is around 14 months into the process (this assume he gets first stage approval). So that means he will most likely have to spend a number of months in Canada without provincial health care coverage where he will have to pay for all health care he receives out of his own pocket.

Your friend will also need to figure out if he can financially support himself during the H&C process. He will also need to discuss whether he will need more family support to care for him which may mean returning home is a better option. Timing is tricky when you're ill. See will have to consider when/if he will be we'll enough to travel home. Given the need for a long international flight he doesn't necessarily have the luxury of a waiting until the last day of his visa especially when his healthcare will run out.
