How would I get accpeted?

Hi everyone. I am looking to doing a Masters degree (or a PHD, haven't decided yet) next year in Canada (the two schools I've looked at being U Toronto and U of B.C, leaning U of B.C) In geography if that matters.

I am in the United States, but looking over the visa requirements..............I'm not sure I'd qualify, which is crushing.

1. How do I prove I am coming back to the states, the last year have been a bummer since graduating from college, so I have no car, no spouse, and I live with my parents. I know owning property is big with these things.

2. How do I prove I have enough to live? I was planning on using student loans (both American federal, and possibly private) and whatever type of assistanship I could get at the Uni to support myself. I WILL NOT have $10,000+ in the bank when I leave, I know right now it isn't going to happen. And my student loans go right to the school, they don't go into my checking account! I was planning on living in graduate housing at either school, so that is also, directly paid to the school, via student aid. I have no sponser in Canada, and my parents aren't supporting me, not that I think they have 10,000 in the bank either at the moment.

Do I have hope?

1. If you have completed /still studying the Bachelors degree in any college at US then it would be very nice decision to
select UOT or UBC(also check McGill Uni) for master/Phd in your intended field.

2. If you are citizen of US then there is no objection and crucial thing that u wouldnt be able to get study permit for Canada.

3. Regarding the financial problem, try to check the local CIC web for further information that might solve ur issue

Why you dont apply as a transfer/ exchange student ?

Thanks, I'll look around the CIC site a bit more see what I can come up with.................

I mean, I have $3000 in the bank ATM and work retail, so it's possible I can have some saved up before I go, but it won't be enough to sustain myself and pay for school for 2 1/2 years.

I still got a LONG time. As I can't even apply until January. But I want to make sure this is possible before hand.

I am applying to a few schools in the states, one an in-state school (not sure if I want to live here still) and the others are Harvard and MIT. If I do happen to get into Harvard, I'll go there no question. And wouldn't likely transfer/exchange out (not sure how that works for Masters/PHD research anyway)

Why dont you choose on the college first to make the questions more easier to answer.
