Hello, I was born and raised in the UAE and I'm applying for a Canadian student visa. Now, I'm Syrian so it's very difficult to provide ties to home country obviously because immigration will just assume that I won't leave, even though I've never actually been to Syria.

Is there any way to prove ties to my country of residence? I can provide my dad's rental contract + a return ticket and a "statement of purpose" but is there anything else I can do in addition to that? Does anyone have any experience with this?

Hi,

My case is similar to yours. I was born in the UAE and I never visited my home country (Palestine). I applied for my visa last week and honestly the only thing you can do is write a very strong SOP, mentioning why you didn't choose the universities in the UAE (for example they don't rank very high, they don't have your program of choice, they're very expensive, some are not internationally recognized etc.). And also mention that you plan to come back to your parents and siblings because you do not want to leave them behind for so long.

And you could also talk about future job prospects here like if you plan to join your family's business etc.
