My friend I'm visiting does not own the place, his parents own it. So what do I provide in my application proving that I will live reside at my friend's house during my stay in Canada?

First of all, I would definitely avoid using the word "live". You are not allowed to live in Canada on a visitor visa. Your friend can mention that you will be staying with him/her while in Canada in the invitation letter.

Fixed the mistake. Anyway, only mentioning it in the invitation letter is enough? Wouldn't they require proof?

It's far far far more important that you show strong proof of ties to your home country and that you show you have sufficient funds to pay for your stay in Canada. What you are worrying about is much less important.

I believe I can prove that already. I'm only worried about the residence part... So only mentioning it in the invitation letter is enough?

I wouldn't put too much emphasis on where you will be staying. Otherwise CIC may think you're coming here to stay.

Thank you for your response. Is it more recommended to stay at a hotel? I would prefer not adding this cost to my plate, because I have a place to stay in for free. According to this (grabbed from CIC):

They want to see where I'll stay. I don't want to risk anything to not have my visa approved, so I wanna make sure not to mess it up. I cannot prove my return with the ticket, because I'm unable to pay for something that is uncertain (example: I pay for the plane ticket and the visa is denied. That's a huge loss for me). So instead of the first bullet point, I wanted to prove the second bullet point there.

So, the final question is: Is it enough to mention my place of stay in the invitation letter only or do I have to provide some extra piece of paper regarding that?
