guys am new to the forum.... need your help

do we file for the visa on our own or through an agent?
if so wat is the paper work that is required? n How would I ascertain if I am sending all the required paper work
Also do we need a job contract prior to filing // applying?

If I had discovered this forum earlier, I would rather have done it myself instead of hiring an agent.
