Hi, hope someone can help me! I am confused on what method of payment I should use for the fees? I'm sponsoring my husband and we are currently living in Hong Kong.

On the Guide to Sponsorship, it saids I can either pay via Internet or International bank draft/money order (must be in Cdn funds).

However, I read somewhere (I cannot find it anymore) that I should refer to the local Consulate for specific instructions. So, at the Canadian Consulate General of Hong Kong website, I saw different instructions: (oh..I cannot post links here...)

In the "Visa and Immigration" section > "Immigration Visas" > "Fees schedule - PDF", in the Method of Payment section, it saids "Payment must be in Canadian or Hong Kong dollars.." And the payment methods are different, either cashier's cheque/bank draft/money order or EPS direct debit.

Am I looking at the right fee schedule?? (I cannot see a fee for sponsorship $75 in the list).

I would prefer to pay over the internet, much more convenient! But is it accepted for Hong Kong applications??

Thanks very much!!

Actually you don't pay the fees to Hong Kong, as your sponsorship and application will be going to Mississauga, you pay the fees to Mississauga. See: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/fees/index.asp

Thanks for your reply!

Sorry, I am still a bit confused. I understand I am paying to Mississauga. Looking at your link, I suppose I am under the section

"If you are applying at an office outside Canada
You can find information on fee payment methods at the website of the visa office (immigration applications) or the Canadian embassy, high commission or consulate (proof of citizenship applications) responsible for your area. Visa and consular offices cannot accept receipts for fees paid in Canada"

So I looked at the website of the Canadian consulate of Hong Kong,
(btw, how do you post the url links? I tried to post the Canadian consulate of hong kong website link but it saids I am not allowed to post links so it makes it difficult to explain to you..)

Inside the "Fee Schedule - pdf", it mentions the method of payment (such as certified cheques or EPS direct debit). I think it means I include the certified cheques/bank draft (if I chose this method) along with the application that will be sent to Mississauga, correct?

But this fee schedule does not list $75 sponsor fee nor does it say it allows internet payment. So the question is: 1) am I looking at the right fee schedule? 2) Is internet payment allowed or I need to follow the method payments stated in that Fee Schedule?

Thanks so much!

I will try once more. You PAY the fee to Mississauga, assuming you are only sponsoring your husband the fee would be $75+$475+$490 a total of $1040. You don't pay any fees to Hong Kong. The list is screwed up on CICs web site, as it doesn't show the prices. If you don't want to pay on line, you will have to get DD for $1040 in Canadian funds payable in Canada. Here is the fee list http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/fees/fees.asp

Sorry, I am really confused by this fee schedule found in the Canadian consulate of Hong Kong. I will paste the fee schedule here to you show what I am confused about. (In the end, it said to attach the cheque/money order and complete the form and include in the application > which I will send to Mississauga. So I am not paying fees to Hong Kong but will send with the application to Mississauga. I WANT to pay online but according to the fee schedule, it is not an option?)

Pogo,

If you look closely, the fee schedule is for immigration applicants of Business people and Skilled worker. This does not applies to family sponsorship like us. So you can pay thru the internet or send DD to Mississauga. Hope this helps.

Oh I see! Thx! I guess I'll go for the internet route. Has anyone had any problems with internet payment applying from Hong Kong?

Hi..

I need some help here about the payment for the Canada Visa in Hong Kong.

I don't plan to pay online but is there other way to make the payment such as by Canadian Dollar upon submitting my documents or i must get the bank draft from international bank/specific bank?

And also, will they have 2 option to get my passport back once approved, either to go to Canadian Consulate General of Hong Kong to collect it by myself or they can send to my home address in Hong Kong..?

Hope i could get some help here.. Thanks!!

Instruction on how to pay the fee for spousal sponsorship application:

If you live outside Canada, you must:
•Pay your fees on the Internet, or
•Obtain an international money order or bank draft, in Canadian funds, made payable to the Receiver General for Canada.
•On the front of the money order or draft, write the financial institutions’ name, complete address (not a post office box number) and account number(s).
•Submit the money order or draft with your application.

pogobb, you can try posting a link without the 'http://' part.

Hi ZodiacGaL, are you talking about submitting document initially to file the application? If so, I don't think you need to submit the original passport at this initial stage; just a photocopy will do.

In the Country Specific Instruction for Hong Kong (Source: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/3903e.pdf), on page 2 it says:

Send the following documents with your application and check () each box when they are enclosed.
•Send originals of the police certificates and forms listed in items 1 to 7 below.
•Send photocopies only of all other documents, unless instructed otherwise.
•If your documents are not in English or French, include an accurate translation with a copy of the originals. Failure to do so could result in substantial processing delays.

Note the 'unless instructed otherwise'... meaning please read through all the guidelines to make sure. :)
