Hi all,

I am a Canadian citizen through naturalization and my wife is a PR. Our baby was born in Pakistan in June 2012. We submitted the forms and fees for his proof of citizenship in August 2012.

We received a letter from the embassy stating the application has been received and not to contact them unless there is an address change.

My wife's PR expires in June 2013 and as a result we are planning on flying back to Toronto in the first or second week of May.

I called the Canadian High Commission Islamabad on 4 different occasions to ask the status of the proof of citizenship and to find out whether I could apply for a temporary travel document for my son, each time they transferred me to a auto voice mail, I left detailed messages with my contact info and no one has bothered to get in touch with me.

Finally, about 10 days back - I couriered them a letter explaining the situation and asking for a status update on the POC application as well as the Travel doc question - unsuprisingly I have not heard back.

I am aware of Islamabad HC being one of the slowest around however this is really getting annoying as I cannot make travel plans and my wife and I are stuck in limbo at the moment.

Can anyone suggest what I should do? I was looking at filling out the temporary travel document and just sending it to them regardless, however my understanding is that the document is only for PR's - my son would be a citizen so Im not sure what form I should fill and the embassy doesent seem to be willing to help either......

Hope someone has a suggestion!

1. You can't apply for a TD as your son is not a PR, but a citizen.
2. If your son is under the age of 2, as you have applied for proof of citizenship, you apply to Isbad for a limited validity Canadian passport. (Which you should have done when you applied for the proof)
3. If he is over the age of 2, then you can apply for a facilitation "F" visa which would allow him to travel to Canada on a Pakistan passport.
