Hi guys,
My company would not provide me with a reference letter in the CIC format. As suggested in several places in this forum, I am resorting to a notarized reference letter from my manager (Thankfully she has agreed to write a letter for me on a plain paper). What is the exact procedure to get this document notarized in India?
a) Should my manager sign the document in front of the notary? If so, are there any mobile notaries available in Bangalore.
b) Should this be on a stamp paper like an affidavit or would a simple plain white paper letter would do?
I would really appreciate any ideas / suggestions from people who have done a similar thing before.
Thanks!

1. Take it on plain paper along with her signature, designation date etc
2. Go to any notary and get this paper notarized. No need for her to come.
3. You write an affidavit on stamp paper stating that you are unable to get ref letter on company letter head because of company policy,
Hence submitting on plain paper
4. Don't forget to attach her business card.

Hi,

Sorry to bother you, but how to get a white paper notarized? I don't think any Notary can do that.

Did you mean to create an affidavit (self declaration) saying that I could not get on a company letter head so this is a letter from my manager and blah blah... and then get this Affidavit notarized?

Sorry for being dumb, but in case there is something else you meant, please elaborate it

Absolutely no requirement to get it notarized, it does not add any benefit.

a) Should my manager sign the document in front of the notary?

Yes, that would be required for it to be considered "notarized."

No requirement to get it notarized. If for some reason it cannot be written on letterhead, that should be explained in the letter, all contact information provided, and the business card of the person signing it can be attached.

What if business card is not provided by the company ?
Can he has mentioned his personal email ID and phone number, and attached engineering license ?

Also, Is it need to be notarized now as he has mentioned his personal contact information ?

Hi james,

Did you get an answer for this?

Did you notarize? pls suggest. Thanks

Hi James,

Did you get an answer to this?

Did you notarize? pls suggest. Thanks

Yeah, file submitted back in June.

In my case, I had my Chief Engineer's license issued by my country's government( having Govt. stamp and logo). I attached the same with the business card(having his name, rank, company's landline and company logo). The reason why I didn't notarize the letter is that it is understood that nobody is going to give his/her license if he is lying in the letter.

And in the letter, I have mentioned his personal mail ID and phone number , and explained the same in the letter of explanation that our company doesn't provide official email IDs to engineers as our job is flexible.

I would suggest you notarize the letter as my case is a little different.

Hope it clears your doubt.

Good Luck

Read post #2 in this thread . Guy has mentioned the details .

Also,I would suggest you that with that notarized letter attach the email conversation from Hr for proving that your company denied giving the letter, and explain the same in the letter of explanation.
Good luck

Thanks James. I will check that. Unfortunately I cant because even if I ask HR for a reference letter, it will be am trying for PR and wouldnt be considered further for good oppurtunities. Thats the sad truth.

Hi Jagjeetcv, can you please let me know the process how you got this done?

I am not sure on the content. Can you please shed some light.

Thanks.

Dear Mzasam,

Thanks for the details.

Can you please provide the stamp paper details and possibly the content to be used in the affidavit. Also the white paper should also be signed by the notary public?
