how to modify chat logs

Hi there,

I would like to know about how to modify (cut parts of our conversations) of chat logs without being it weird to the IO. I mean, we talked subjects that are really private and I don't want anybody to see that, not even an OI. Is it weird for example if it's like

1:34pm yes I think....

and then the next line is..

2:34pm ok, now I think I will go study, loads to be done...

or just cut simple lines that have info I don't want the OI to know or see???


The chatlogs are what is driving me crazy here....I want to be done with them gooooooooood

I understand what you mean. There is bound to be incredibly private things in chat logs. I would suggest cutting it out to the point that it flows well together. So.. you would remove the entire section of the convo.

but he won't see it as weird with the "time" of each sentences that is written??

Hi!

What I did was something like:

1:54 p.m. me : hi baby
...
2:34 p.m. him : can I call you tonight?

So I pretty much deleted a whole bunch of rows and put ... indicating we talked more between 1:54 and 2:34
It is pretty obvious that I took out a whole 30 mins of our conversation right there.

It may be worth it to do as much as possible. Remember, the more proof the better.

if you have a fight in a chatlog, is it important to put it? or its more like normal day chat, not like super in lvoe, but not having a fight6

I included an email that was part of "making up" after a heated discussion on the phone the previous night. I also included my partner's apologies to my email and his acknowledging it and also saying sorry. I think disagreements / fights are normal for relationships and prove that it's genuine. I think it's healthy and the emails really showed that we cared for each other and that the conversation was a blip that we learned from.

I also never included the actual chat logs in our file. Instead, I printed off or did screen shots of the call/chat history showing dates and times of each call and chat (on skype). On the chat history, it shows the start of the conversation, and sometimes... we started them in very private ways. My thinking.... at least it proves the relationship was genuine. I didn't black anything out. The only time I got red in the face is when I actually submitted it to our immigration consultant, because he had to go through it. I could care less what the IO thinks.. maybe it will give them a thrill and put them in a good mood while processing our application! :

I am currently printing off 4-5 chatlogs per month for the last 3 years....I think it's going to be enough like this, plus we have screenshots of email and also the skype suscription history...all the calls I made to her home etc...

Do you have any screenshots of you two talking on the webcam? This is great proof of relationship!

yes we do but more like in september of this year when my friend told me to take some ...i never thought of it beofre....is it bad?

We just printed a few sample days... I took days that got a little dicey in someway, but not too much so... We did print every page from phone records since these are harder to fake (and easy for them to verify if they wanted to... Really anyone can fake chat reports, Skype and all that if they have enough will and times, there's no way to verify) ...

We offered to provide any more of the daily chat logs if they needed... They did not ask

No, we did not print the beginning of every conversation. In Skype, you can see your entire chat/call history for a 6 month period which shows the date and time a chat started, and the duration of calls made through skype. In this log, if you started a chat, it will show the first line of the person who started the chat. So maybe we started a conversation on September 1, 2010, it would show something like this....

August 31, 2010: 2:30 pm: outgoing call to xxxx
September 1, 2010: 11:30 pm xxxxx says: Hello
September 1, 2010: 11:40: Incoming call from xxxxx

I didn't know how to actually print off the history, so I did screen shots and printed those off... it was about 60 pages.

Really? In *love words before being official* you've known each other one year.

To others, suggest not cutting and pasting but blacking out overly personal (explicit only) parts.
