How to mention ongoing absence in citizenship application?

I left Canada on February 1, 2025, and I’m still outside Canada. I’m planning to apply for citizenship while abroad.


In the absences section, how should I mention this ongoing trip since I haven’t returned yet?


I’m thinking to leave the leave the current date for ‘Date returned to Canada’ - that way it won’t consider my presence it Canada.

Really appreciate if you have any any other suggestions.


Also, just wanted to double check - is it okay to apply while outside Canada if I meet all the eligibility requirements?

The physical presence tool supposes you're applying from Canada. Send the return date as the day you apply, add an explanation letter where you explain your situation and tell the IRCC officer that you're not claiming the last day of physical presence.
