Does anyone know how to marry a foreign in Ontario?

I get the part where you:
1) Get the marriage license at the city hall.
2) Go to a judge and get married.

BUT the problem they say and don't tell me how to fix is:
"if your spouse had a divorce outside of Canada"...
Does anyone know this process? and the time it takes?

ALSO do you need to have "marriage certificate" to apply family immigration? or can we just have the thing the judge gives us... since it takes time to process the "marriage registration" and also to get the "marriage certification".

Thank you! :D

Here's the information about marrying in Ontario after a divorce. When you're marrying someone who obtained a divorce outside of Canada, an Ontario lawyer needs to look over the divorce decree and submit a written opinion of its authenticity. We decided that was a huge hassle and we just went to New York State (Niagara) and got married there, but I'm from the States so that made it easy. They didn't require that my Canadian divorced husband-to-be get a legal opinion as to whether his Ontario divorce was legal. We were also able to arrange beforehand to get a certified copy of our marriage license for Immigration. You can submit the Record of Solemnization if you marry in Ontario, and then submit the official licence once it's been recorded in Thunder Bay and you have your copy. You do have to order it, though - it doesn't just come to you automatically.
