Hello I have a rather tricky situation. I am a Canadian citizen a widower. I met this woman through a dating website, she is an Iranian citizen, and divorced with 2 children ages 18 and 12. I myself have 2 children ages 31, 29 and 24.

After several months of communication by WhatsApp and skype and sharing pictures and videos of each other and families, we realize that we both have the qualities that we are seeking in a potential partner and we fell in love and want to get married.

Problem is we have never met in person as yet. We do plan on meeting in person in Istanbul in June next year (2019) and we have been planning this now for several weeks.

I would like for her to come to Canada and us get married but I really do not know if Canadian Immigration will believe our story. In Istanbul we will be together for almost 2 weeks and will then have pictures of us together etc. At one point we even thought of getting married in Istanbul, but upon researching this process looks a bit complicated.

I have kept copies of our WhatsApp chat, that is the only documentation I have of our relationship so far.

Hi

She can try for a TRV but unless she can show very strong ties to her home country, chances of approval are low.

What are your ages, religions, cultures, languages, education?

Marrying after spending little time together in person is a huge red flag.

Thanks for the reply. I am 56 years old and she is 41. We both are muslims. She has a rather large family of sisters and brothers back home as well as she has her two daughters. Though eventually we will like to see the 2 girls also come to Canada and live with us. My kids have no objection on this relationship and neither does her family.
I do understand the red flag and it is because of the restrictions that Iran has placed on Canadians visiting Iran that adds to the problem.
She does speak, read and write English, her speaking skills can use some improvement, but her reading and writing English skills are very good.
I am a retail store manager and have been there for the past 20 years, she is self employed/home maker in Iran.

I am thinking to wait until after our Istanbul trip before commencing any paperwork, but even then I am not sure of the possibility of her getting visa to come

Not really any red flags there. The age difference isn't too big.

Chances of TRV approval will probably be less at that point, as she will have been with you for much longer. A partner in Canada is normally cause for refusal.

I strongly suggest you spend more time together in person before marrying. Take several trips and try to spend an extended time. Meet each other's kids.
