Hi all seniors,

I have landed in Canada couple of months ago and still waiting for my PR card.
I want to work as well but heard I need SIN card, can you please write me a process how to apply SIN card and how long does it take.

Thanks in advance.

You just need to go to a designated service canada location and present ID, passport, landing docs, etc. You'll get it on the spot. It's not a card anymore its just a piece of paper they print out.

Yes, exactly this. You can get a Social Insurance Number the second you land but they do not give cards anymore. When you need it for work, you just give the employer the number.

They will accept a COPR for up to one year after your landing date, after that you will require a PR card.
My wife went to a Service Canada location and got her number a few days after landing. It was easy. She just needed her passport and COPR (as far as I can remember). Check the site to be sure that nothing has changed.
