Hi,
My step-son is 9 years old. I have got the PR card and his mother has also applied for her PR along with my step-son. But they are asking for a consent letter from his father who is not willing to give the permission. His father believes that we might become Canadian citizens and there by affect his right of access to the child. His father is living abroad. How can we guarantee that it will not happen? or how can we get the PR card without his consent? Many thanks

If his father will not agree to his immigration and they have shared custody, the mothers only option would be to get a court order from authorities in her country stating that she is allowed to move to Canada with him. If she fails to get that, he would not be able to get PR and she would have to change his status to not accompanying and get his medicals in order to keep the option open to sponsor him later.
