Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
hi,
I am currently under visitor's pass/visa. its valid until aug 20th of this year, i already made an application to extend it a month ago. Assuming it will be extended, my partner and i would declare our common law status this coming december 15 of this year and he will sponsor me so i could become a permanent resident. My questions are:
1) I lived in Singapore for 3 years before moving to Canada, how can i get a police clearance from them?
2)how can he determine if he is allowed to sponsor me here in Canada? my partner is a Canadian citizen btw
3)is there any chance that he could be rejected to sponsor me? if yes, what are the reasons?
4)assuming that he is eligible to sponsor me, and we already made the application for my permanent residency, can i then apply for an open work permit? or i can make an application for work permit as soon as they already approved his eligibility to sponsor me? and how long does the open work permit that they would grant me?

so far those are just my questions. I hope someone can help me figure things out. Thank you!!! ;) :D ;D

1) When all else fails, check the CIC web site: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/asia-pacific/singapore.asp
2) Best option is to read through the application instruction guide in detail (available on the CIC web site).
3) He can be rejected if he is on welfare / social assistance or is bankrupt. He can also be rejected as a sponsor due to certain criminal convictions. Also, if he has previously sponsored someone and the commitments of that sponsorship haven't somehow been met. Those would be some of the primary reasons why a sponsor would be refused.
4) If you apply using the inland method, you should submit an open work permit along with your application. Your OWP should be approved approximately four months after the application is submitted. If you apply using the outland method, you don't qualify for an OWP.

you mean i can apply for an open work permit the same time i applied for my permanent residency?
