How to apply for LMIA

I have been working for a Canadian company for the past 1.5 years so far (first year on internship physically in Canada), the rest until now I've been working remote part time from my own country.

My company wants to bring me over physically to Canada but I'll need a work permit, my job classification is A but how do we get the LMIA if I've already been hired by the company?
Is the one and only option to put up a job posting for 4 weeks and prove that nobody was qualified?

Yes, they need to advertise the job per the LMIA requirements.

If they put the job up with no intention of hiring anyone since they've already hired me, isn't that kind of ... fraudulent? Will the authorities catch wind of that?

They need to demonstrate they made a genuine attempt to hire a Canadian for the role but were unable to find someone for the role. If the company should have reasonably been able to find a Canadian to hire based on market conditions, then yes, of course they will catch on to that.

Make sure they follow the advertising rules for the LMIA. The job needs to be advertised in three places that meet the requirements.
