How to apply for a Refugee Travel Document

Hi there

I wonder when and how I can apply for a refugee travel document. I haven't got my eligibility interview. But I have some emergency to go to another country (other than my home country of course), Can I apply for it now? And how long will it take?

If it takes too long, I may consider withdrawing my refugee claim, to get back my passport. Anyone know how long will that take, to get the passport back in order to travel?

You cannot apply for an RTD now. You can only apply for the RTD once you have had your hearing and have been accepted as a protected person.

If you absolutely need to travel now, then the only option would be to withdraw your claim. I don't know how long it takes to get your passport back. Hopefully others can comment.

Note that once you withdraw your refugee claim and leave, you should assume it won't be possible to return to Canada.
