How recent should the Letters of Reference from my previous employers be?

I am in Canada now. I received a Letter of Reference from my employer in India last year, in May 2012.

I am also expecting another letter from a previous employer of mine in the US later this month.

I am considering applying under FSW within the next 2-3 months, under NOC 2174.

Would this be fine?
