How much money would you say you have spent on your PR Application??

In the past 1 1/2 years I would say we have spent around $8,400 including:

* Application Fees - $1,040.00
* Medical - $240.00
* Police Certificates - $75.00
* Applicants Photos(immigration) - $125.00
* Wedding so we could apply as married - $6,000.00 ish
* Marriage Licence - $120.00
* Marriage Certificate - $35.00
* Husbands Divorce Certificate - $22.00
* 2 Visitors Records - $150.00
* Renewal of my British Passport - $260
* Printer Ink (Lexmark black & Colour Ink) - $200.00
* Paper - $20.00
* Photos - Developed for Proof of relationship - $40
* Postage - $50 (some items registered or express mail)
* Misc (Paper Clips, files, Bull dog clips, pens etc) - $40

I think that's about it!

You got off lucky.I also had to support a household in Brazil with the help of my wife but you can double yours and then some.I should add it was all worth it.

IMMIGRATION ONLY:
Application Fees - 1040
Medical - 260
FBI - 60
Police - 120
Photos - 100
Staples - 100
Ink - 60
Mailed Application - 88
Mail, Etc - 100
=2,000

TRAVEL AND WEDDING:
Plane Tickets - 1600
Travel Expenses - 2500
Wedding - 7000
=11,100

Which incidentally makes me sick considering I make under $20,000 a year. Heh. Love the guy though ;) why else would I do this!

ooh..

well, so far we have:

fees: $1040
medical: $485
fbi record check $ 50 ($18 processing fee, plus $5 for fingerprints plus $26 or so for sending registered mail)
photocopies - $50
printer ink - $60
paper - $5
various clips, labels, etc etc - $15
cost of shipping application - $85

for a total of $1740.00

anticipated bills in the future - buying a refundable return plane ticket ($500-800, I'm guessing - usually non-refundable tickets cost quite a bit more), storage space for his stuff (???? I"m guessing something like $50/month), future mailing/shipping expenses i.e. for passport request ($150.00)......

immigration is definitely not cheap!!!

I was meaning just the application :)

My Husband has supported my self and 3 kids on one not very great pay check for the past 5 years..and paid child support and paid for all my flights/Visitors records etc..I have not had an Income for 5 years just so that we could be together. And looking forward to the "light at the end of the Tunnel" so to speak... :)

Minna - glad I'm not alone in spending so much on mailing the application! I feel your pain. That one hurt.

Yep, my heart kind of stopped a second there after doing the math. :o

nope, definitely not alone. I almost keeled over in the Fed-Ex place...but by that point I figured I'd just pay it. It's only money, right?? I'd rather be poor and happy than save the money and wait even another day longer for approval....

I couldnt agree more..when PR has been issued you will look back and say "Its was expensive..but ALL worth every penny"

Immigration = expensive
Spending the rest of your life with your loved ones = priceless :D

Nods - priceless.

My big ouch apart from application fees has been plane tickets. Lots and lots of em. Not to mention the pain of long haul flights - urrgh :p

Actually, refundable tickets are significantly more expensive than non-refundable ones. You pay a premium for being allowed to refund/exchange your ticket with all the airlines I've flown.

Mine was...

PR app fees $1040.00
Visa Extensions $450
work permits $300
restoration of status $150
Lawyer (includes fees for TRP and Rehab) $3200 (Turns out i wasnt inadmissible TRP/Rehab waste of money)
Purolator ~$300
Medicals $600
ACPO Cert $100 (mailing included)
Canada Police cert $32

$6172.00

EDIT:: Oh yea add $100 for photos and $490 for RPRF

$6762.00

Around $15,000 with wedding and immigration fees(inland application)

unfortunately I am not able to work yet as I am in a visitor visa, however if was in my home country I wouldn't let my partner send me any money unless I was really sick and unable to work.

* Application Fees - $1,040.00
* Medicals - $400.00
* Police Certificates - $75.00
* Applicants Photos(immigration) - $10.00
* Marriage Licence/translated certificate - $120.00
* Renewal of passport= $50
* Photos - Developed for Proof of relationship - $60
* Postage via UPS or fex-ex=$400
*Lawyer= $5000

Not including the wedding about $6500 the wedding cost us about $5000 so it has been well over $10,000

Staples - 100

You spent $100 on staples!? :o I'd hate to be the one who has to remove them to rearrange the papers.

I don't know what I've spent so far and I don't want to think about it really, but I'm really trying hard to stay on the low end. I can't really afford a wedding, even at the low end with no guests and no reception, so I'm hoping that my conjugal partnership proof is sufficient, because I can't afford to reapply either. :(

At least I have my partner here in Canada on a long-term visit for now, so it's cheaper than flying to Florida all the time and subsidizing his rent, power, telephone, Internet, etc.

BeShoo - Staples is a store, that's what I meant 8)

I spent so much there mostly because I had my photos and travel itineraries and things printed on their high quality paper, costing about 59 cents per page. My printer doesn't print all that well, not when it comes to pictures.
