How much money can I bring?

How much money can I bring back to Canada from the US (will be in Canadian funds) without being taxed on it? Is it still anything under 10k? Right now we're estimating about 5-7k in CAD.

There is no tax on any amount of money you bring into Canada, however, you must declare amounts over CAD 10,000.

One of my friend has landed in march 2019 with 30k CAD. He just declare this to the immigration officer and they even didn’t ask to show the money. They just write it down in his COPR. No tax nothing.
