hello,

I came to canada in May 2008 and I was enrolled in 2 years post graduate diploma and I spent 3 years finishing it.
Later I got work permit and its been 3 years since i got my work permit.
And i m getting my PR in a month or so.
So my question is I have spent 6 years before my PR as a student an as a worker.
I want to know how long do I have to wait to acquire citizen status.

For accurate answer, you better wait for new bill to pass into law. But it could be from the date you become PR you can apply for citizenship after 4 years if you don't leave the Canada for a single day..

You can leave Canada for as long as you want. that's not the issue. The issue is that you will have to make up for every day you would have spent outside Canada. In other words, if after becoming PR you spend 3 weeks vacation in the moon, you will be eligible to apply 4 years + 3 weeks from the day you become PR. If you spend 5 months somewhere else you add the 5 months to 4 years.

Hi!

I did my test on 7 May 2014. I'm waiting for oath notification. Some of my friends told me that they notify people two weeks before oath
