Hello all,

Recently applied for a course. The course on the website says 2 YEARS, however now when I got my offer letter, the duration is roughly 16 months. 4 semesters consecutive, with no breaks inbetween. I heard I'll get 3 years, but I'm unsure, so please help me out!

Better to confirm with your school if the program is a 2 year program. My offer letter also said the same, only showed the duration of the whole program (16months total without any breaks). But my completion letter stated I was awarded a 2yr diploma program.

some get 16 months some get 3 years
My course is of 4 semesters, the course on the website says 2 years.. Just because it's consecutive semesters the course is around 16 months. How can it be like " some get 16 months some get 3 years "?

Anyone else that has something similar to my case? What was the PGWP issued to you?

I got 1year until passport expiration. But I also got a note on my PGWP to renew passport for the extension. 2yrs diploma in completion letter but 4sem/16mos stated in LOA.

Because it is up to the Visa Officers' discretion when program lengths are not straightforward. Like in your case it should be 24months with 2 scheduled breaks but you don't so you have to explain to them because if you don't you will only get 16 months.

I just spoke to the live - chat on their website and they said my diploma will mention 2 years on it. So will this be sufficient?

Yes, so long as your completion letter and diploma states that you took a 2yr program, then that will be the basis for your PGWP eligibility. But still, IRCC reserves the right to decide in the end.

Note: If the officer notes that the duration of studies was shorter than the duration of the program, as indicated in the letter confirming the completion of the program of study, and the program was not completed in an accelerated form, the post‑graduation work permit may be issued in accordance with the duration of studies. For example, if the applicant undertook classes for a period of 12 months, not in an accelerated form, but their degree notes that it is a 2‑year degree, the post-graduation work permit may be issued for 12 months, in accordance with the duration of their studies.
