Dear All Senior Memebrs

Please help me in calculating my points for Education as I have to check if I would be eligible for applying PR

1. Passed B.Com ( 3 years Regaular -Full Time Study at University Level) = 15 Years for Full time study

2. Post Graduate Diploma in Infirmation Techonolgy ( 1 Year Full time study at University Level ) = 1 year

3. Passed M.com ( Correspondence Course - 2 Years Dgreefrom Himachal Pradesh University ,Shimla ,India ) = 2 years

I am confused if i can get some points for 2 and 3 point .

Your reply and suggestions shall be appreciated.

Thanks

Vicky

Dear Vicky1976,

No Points for correspondance course.

20 marks for 1 and 2 combined.

A question is whether visa office will accept your MCom correspondence degree or not.

If visa office consider your master degree then 25 Points

If visa office does not accept your master degree then 20 points for your BCom (15 Years) + Diploma (1 Year). You total education will be 16 years, in this case. I am not sure whether you will get 22 or not for your 16 years of education.

Good Luck

Dear Mambers

Thanks for your reply.

Like ToEnjoy said there is no points for correspondence courses , On CIC website it is mentioned that applicant can get points for Full Time Equivalent Study . If I correlate it to years of education than it is 2 years degree course , but the only thing is that in this we dont have to attend classes. But we get book material from University and we prepare ourself by studying at home for passing the examination.

I have details marks for all 4 semesters for undertaking and passing this 2 years degree.

So please correct me if I am wrong to enable me proceed further for PR eligibility.

Vicky

(Pursuant to R77 A distance learning credential is eligible for points as long as it meets the definition of a credential
as outlined in R73. If the credential is not described in terms of number of years duration (i.e.,
three-year bachelor's degree), officers should apply the definition of full-time equivalent study and
knowledge that the visa office has acquired on local education institutions and credentials.
There is a high incidence of fraud in this area. Verification checks should be conducted with
issuing institutions to ensure that program integrity standards are respected.
Pursuant to R78, officers should assess the application and award the applicant up to a maximum
of 25 points for education.)

Dear Visa Expert

I really apprciate that you always answer to my questions.

But my friend I am unble to comprehend when you say R73 , R77 .. ... becoz this really diffficult.

So I you can reply me in simple way wheather apllicant can get some points for Correspondence Study.

Thanks

Vicky

Correspondence and Distance Learning degree are accepted in some case if they meet basic criteria.

You have to prove, you have studied 15 hours/week at study center/ university/ home/ online/ computer/ coaching institute etc.

Visa office knows well that there are many fraud case.

Visa office contact your study center/college/ university by phone or website and decide you later.

They may take decision by your degree mark sheet/ certificates/ transcript/ syllabus/ credits for each course etc..

Your M.Com should be accepted and 25 points shall be awarded. See, Local visa offices are aware of the local bodies, authorities, institutions and other. So they might check closely with the University and if checks are ok then 25 points. But do not solely depend upon this degree for points if you cross 67 mark marginally. Also send original transcripts in sealed envelope for this degree.

Best of Luck

Dear Rocky & Visa Expert

Thanks for your suggestions . I can prepare up accordingly after considering all eligibility factors.

Once again thanks for your advises.
