How LVO calculates Education Points...plz

Oh boy, read this thread BEFORE my morning coffee, BIG MISTAKE, lol...I know this is serious stuff, but it really gave me a good chuckle to start the day. Anyway, back to being serious again. I think you may be mixing up points and years in the comment above. With regard to a PA: THREE year diploma + TWELVE year basic school education = FIFTEEN years which allows 22 POINTS. The same 22 points awarded for two Bachelor Degrees and at least FIFTEEN years of education, even though more years of education may be involved. On the surface it doesn't make sense until you realize they are trying to give more credit to trade and vocational certificates. Looking at the job possibilities in Canada, you are more likely to get work with those specific certificates than you are with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
I really don't mean to be cheeky, as I know I have had questions about things that probably seemed quite clear to others. I hope the rationale above helps explain why the points work out the way they do. Good Luck!

Well...I know you wanted to be helpful but soon you will realize that it was a really big mistake. Because since morning I am at my wits end to explain that 12+3 years is equal to 15 years and again & again I am being asked how do you know Infact after 2-3 postings I was so agitated that I was literally cursing myself that why did I venture to reply in the first place. I really hope that you will be able to answer that diploma is also part of education. Lol

Sorry for my lack of knowledge.

But the question here was not 12+3=15 yrs of education.

Question was diploma certificate in addition to 15 yrs of education. For B.com with 3 yrs also they give 20 points & not 22 points.

Referring to the official application guide, and this applies ONLY TO THE PRINCIPAL APPLICANT (adaptability points for spouse/education are separate):
A three-year diploma, trade certificate or apprenticeship AND at least 15 years of full-time or full-time equivalent study 22 points
A university degree of two years or more at the Bachelor’s level, AND at least 14 years of full-time or full-time equivalent study 20 points
The TOTAL number of years of education is "at least 14 years", which includes basic education and at least a two year university education to complete the Bachelor's degree. As you only have the one Bachelor degree you can only get 20 points. If, instead of doing a BCom, you had taken a Nursing programme (for example) you would have a three year diploma + 12 years of basic education and score 22 points. It isn't just the number of education years that give the points, but what degree/diploma/certificate you earned as well. Hope things are getting clearer.
