How long does it usualy take for first stage approval?

CIC website says 44 days, we've noticed on the forum it's running about a month.

No, no, no - first stage approval is a term used only with inland PR applications. It's currently taking 8-9 months for CPC-Vegreville to get to applications to assess them for first stage.

If you applied outland, the sponsor's assessment at CPC-Mississauga takes 44 days. Then the application is transferred overseas and the processing timeline depends on which embassy is processing the file.

Thanks for the correction RobsLuv... getting caught up in outland-only has tainted my perception of the application process :-[
