Hello! I am a student with a study visa and part-time work visa, residing in Canada for 1 year and a few months. I'm currently working as a part-time employee, as software developer, in a high-tech/financing company for 8 months now, and they've decided to try and sponsor my work visa.

The LMIA has been approved, and now they have applied for my work visa.

In order to adjust my expectations, I just would like to know how long does it usually take from this point forward: a few days, a few weeks, or several months?

Thank you!

Estimated processing time is six weeks - although it could be more or could be less.

So just to update the thread, it took me 69 days to get it! Here is my timeline:

April 2018: The company I'm working for applied for the LMIA (I was working there part-time, because I had a student permit and part-time work permit)
September 5th: LMIA was approved
September 26th: Applied for work permit extension for myself and open work permit for my spouse, under the Global Talent Stream program
December 5th: Received email with the approval

Now I'm just waiting to get the work permit from the mail!
