Hi everyone!

My husband is immigrating to Canada using the outland permanent resident application. We received a notice last week that his application has been approved. We paid all our fees and got everything done before sending it in, so we didn't have to worry about doing anything else once the application was handed in.

My question is, how long will it take to get the Confirmation of Permanent Residence and instruction letter?

Thank you!

The maximum processing time is 14 months for outland sponsorship for a US applicant. It may be processed sooner than that, it all depends on whether or not CIC require more information.

I know the processing times for inland/outland, we have already been approved. I'm just asking about the letter itself. When can we expect to get it in the mail, now that his application has been accepted?

Within 14 months. Nobody on here can answer your question any better than that. You can check the progress of your application through E-Cas. Once you have a 'Decision Made' on both the Sponsorship Application and Permanent Residence application you can expect the COPR within a few weeks.

That's what I've been saying, the decision has been made. It was accepted. And you actually gave me the answer to my question, I can expect it within a few weeks, thank you.

Congratulations on your approval! :-)

For my own reference, by any chance do you know when your application was sent in?

Thank you!! :) We sent in a complete package in May 2016 I believe, so once we submitted it, it only took about 5 months for a decision to be made (this includes being asked for more information on one form).

it takes as long as it takes for mail to arrive from ottawa to where you are. for most people in the us (or staying in canada) it takes between 2-4 weeks. it will be sent to the address listed for the applicant in the application. be on the lookout for a brown envelope in regular mail.
