How long to hear back that our application was accepted or not?

My girlfriend and I submitted our common law visa application on October 18th 2018 and we still haven't heard anything back.

(we both live in Canada)

My friend (who did the same process a year earlier) said it took him a month and half to receive the email saying that their application had been received and was now being processed.

I paid for tracking when we mailed it in, so I know it was delivered (2 days after we sent it)

Any thoughts?

6-12 weeks
