I got my PR in Ontario last year
and I know to keep my PR I have to live in Canada 2 yrs out of 5yrs
now my question is
Can I spend A whole year out of canada?
"a friend told me you can not spend more than 6 month per year out of canada, and I want to know how true is this info?"
thank you

There is no six month rule. Yes - you can stay outside of Canada for a whole year. Don't listen to your friend.

There was a 6 month limitation about 20 years ago under the previous legislation but that's long gone.

Hi

It should be brought back..

1, Except under the pre 2002 Act, Immigration had to prove "intent to abandon Canada" after 6 months outside Canada. Almost impossible to prove, so very very few PRs lost their status.
