I am a international student in US, and try to get a visitor visa in Canada. I was planning go back to China in this May and stay in Canada for 2 days before that. So on April 5th I mailed my I-20, passport and other file to the Canada visa office in LA. The application arrived on April 8th. I am stupid enough that I have not bought a round track number. Now I am so worried about whether I can get my passport back before May 6th. Otherwise, I can not go back to China this year. Does anyone has any ideas what I should do now, and how long it will be take to obtain a visitor visa for students like me. Thanks.

Their posted processing time is 15 days plus an additional 10 days for nationals of some countries. You didn't read the instructions did you? Mail applications can take longer than the on-line applications.

Thanks for your reply. So you mean the mail application will take 15 days right? Or you mean longer?

I doubt you'll get your passport in time. Mail applications take longer than online, and on top of that, if you didn't include a USPS express (the one with tracking) they'll use regular USPS which takes longer.

I think if you get it back in time it will be really close to your departure date.
