how long is the validity of pr card and what if its expired?

now my question is how long is the validity of a pr card?

and if your pr card expired does that mean you have to leave the country and apply again?

can i renew my pr card 1 year before it expires?

Usually valid 5 years although as often said on this forum PR cards expire but PR status never expires, can only be revoked if not for example meeting residency obligation (although there are more serious reasons as well) or renounced by an individual.

You do not need to leave the country to renew PR card but unlikely you can apply to renew one year out. The main thing is to maintain PR status to avoid issues renewing a PR card by being resident in country for 2 years out of 5 years given you will need to demonstrate meeting this residency obligation when renewing.
