Hey guys, I have a BOWP! I understand it's to bridge the gap between current visa running out and PR being approved. If the PR for what ever reason did not get approved can you still stay in Canada until the BOWP runs out?

That's exactly what I'm also wondering about. If let's say I get BOWP for a year and my PR application is refused after 6 months, will be BOWP valid for the rest 6 months?

Usually it's issued for one year, but note that BOWP is issued *only* if R10 completeness check is passed for EE application or if positive eligibility decision was made for paper-based applications.
All in all, it's unlikely for application to be refused after BOWP was issued.

Yes, you can stay until the expiry of the BOWP. Also, if for whatever reason it takes longer than 1 year to process your PR application, you can apply for another BOWP (of course, you have to apply for the new one before the old BOWP expires).
