Hello fellow family class:)
Any light on the fallowing subject would be much appreciated.

My husband an I are waiting for his pr approval. We started around November 2013 (I was approved to sponsor in January 2014). On friday 1 of august 2014 we received a letter asking us to pay the rprf fee. and our status on line change to "in process". does anyone know how much longer this will take, my husband an i are jumping off of walls.
Also online we can see they have recived his medical exams but not the police check which he did at the same time. The police station told him at the time that it would be sent straight to them?
Also once he is approved how long until we can buy the tickets to canada?
Thank you for any help, this process although will be worth it, has been very fustrating.

Which visa office?

I don't think ECAS indicates anything about police record checks, only medicals.

How long you have to land varies, but it's usually 1 year from the medicals.

how long it takes depends on which visa office your application is at.

For me, it took less than 2 weeks after paying my fee to get DM, then another 5 days until I received my COPR in the mail. For Ottawa, the easier the requst, the shorter the wait.

ECAS will not say anything about police checks, only medical and application received date/status.

No one can tell you how long the COPR will be valid for. Generally it's good for 2-4 weeks after the 1 year anniversary date of the medical exam. For example, my medical was completed in Nov. 2013, and I have until Dec. 10th, 2014 to land. It appears this grace period is standard.

We applied at the embassy in tel aviv. On line it says 9 months. But when do those nine months begin? Now or when it was recived in feburaury? So does this meen we are closer to the end? We hope to arrive in canada before the winter

definitely don't follow the stats online, as they are not a true picture of today's processing times. Ottawa says 15 months, and i got my approval in 4. Others are seeing the same thing happen.

If CIC is asking for RPRF payment, then yes, this is generally the end of the process, and the status will change to DM soon. For the most part, they will not request this payment if there is an issue with the application. It *generally* means an approval is pending. To know how long it takes for tel aviv, see if there is a thread specific to that visa office and see if a "trend" has been established.

PS... hope you're husband is staying safe over there!

That's the first I've heard of this "grace period". Our experience and every other one I have read of here has had their COPR expire on the exact 1 year anniversary of the medicals.

yeah, this seems to be common for recent COPRs as i've seen it referenced by other applicants too, so i know it's not just me. Perhaps it's a new thing because CIC realized it's a pain to "offically" extend them if DM is less than a certain period of time from the anniversary date? I've stopped trying to figure out the ways of CIC months ago. :)

Thanks for the help so far. One more question. Will they let me know if they have recived the reciept? I sent it august 4 and the post said they got it the same day. How will i know? I worry that i dont send things properly. Or ive made some sort of mistake. It drives me nuts that theirs no one to talk to.

as far as i know, cic does not notify people when additional documents have been received. usually, the applicant will email the visa office and ask. whther the vo actually responds is dependant on the vo.

I see. I sent them an email as well. I guess i will wait another few days and i will ask again. Thanks for the help.
