How long does the background check take?

Hey everyone, I just wondering how long does usually the background check take? My husband is going to sponsor me. He has applied for his background check on Dec. 10, 2016. But,it has been a month. There is no any phone call from the police station. I'm worried about it.

MyCIC is pretty recent and it is only with MyCIC that this level of detail has been known, so not a huge bank of experience in this just yet. But early indications are that it can take days or weeks! Mine took one day, I have heard of others taking 4 - 6 weeks. Do bear in mind that in your case, you have the dreaded Christmas / New Year 'silly season' in there - government employees also have Christmas parties and take lot of time off over this time of year, so I expect that is having an affect!

For FSW or Outland this is true. Not so for Inland. For Inland, the BG check is nearly immediate and it continues for months...
