How long does it take to get the first initial response from CIC?

Hi all,

I am trying to sponsor my common-law partner and we sent the application forms around mid-march. We have not heard anything yet from the CIC. Does anyone know generally how long it takes to get the first response? Is there any way to track the forms before we get a response?

Is it an inland application (sent to Vegreville) or overseas (sent to CPC Mississauga)?

For inland, it's about 6.5 months before you hear anything, for Mississauga, about a month.

in my case we are still near 2 month from CIC-M and still nothing... just do not want to ruin your hope just that sometimes it takes longer than we hope for
