I tried to search through to see what can be delaying my application, i traveled, studied and worked in different countries, that might be one of the factors delaying my file.

One other thing i guess is delaying it, might be because i sent full documents with old reference letters from the institutions, plus salary sheets plus contracts. I had the old reference and ask them to issue me new letters and they took too long and i decided to post my full documents with the old reference letter. When i discovered that they have changed the Dean and phone numbers, then i asked them to send me a new updated reference letter, they took two months to get in contact with them as it is in a nother country.
Finally the posted it to me and i have posted all the 3 letters to the Visa office.

Please could someone help to let me know, when the background check takes place? Is it when the file is in process or after that stage?.

I am just so worried.

Waiting for Suggestions.

i was in same boat. but last month i received a letter regarding interview.. they call me for an interview in november.. i just check my status - is still "IN PROCESS".. ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE... IS EVERYTING ALLRIGHT...

hi everyone, my e-cas status has been "In Process" since June 23,2010 and at the same time received our medical request. after we sent in our medicals last august 5, there has been no update on e-cas or any correspondence. I don't know if our medicals have been received in Ottawa although Fedex's tracking number indicates it has been delivered.

also, my husband's work permit is about to expire november 30,2010. Would it be wise to send a case specific inquiry now or should we wait some more?

please reply as both my husband and I are are becoming worried about the lack of update or correspondence.

thanks everyone.

Hi Adamvaid,

I will be waiting if they can call me for interview it will be good. I have waited for so long.

My E.cas does not update, it is still showing the same old information from Nova Scotia, that is the problem so i have no idea what my status is, i only wrote to them an e.mail in June and they told me my file is in process. That is how i knew about my status, i have written to them another e.mail in September , but still no reply till now.

Just waiting.

How to order your immigration file notes CAIPS

If you are overseas, someone else (a Citizen, Permanent Resident, or someone physically present in Canada) will have to obtain them for you under the Access to Information Act. This can be a relative, friend or sponsor, or a commercial service. For this there is a $5 fee (more if you use a commercial service), and you will have to provide consent. Forms for this are available on the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website.
Forms

Companies providing CAIPS ordering services
If you are outside Canada and do not have a friend or relative inside Canada who can order your CAIPS notes for you, you may consider using one of these commercial services. Please note, if you are in Canada and can order your notes yourself, or have a friend or relative who can do it for you, that will cost only $5. All of these commercial services cost more.

Hi SATDXB,
Thanks for the information. Yes i will start contacting friends who are in Canada while waiting to see f they will say anything. If by the end November they do not send any correspondence then i will order the Caip Notes.

I am just giving them this time since i last sent my updated reference information last week, because of the changes that were made in the institutions. So i am giving them time to decide whatever decision they want to take. hopefully it is going to be a positive one.

Thanks for the assistance.

Hi SATDXB,
Thanks very much. I read through it and it is very comprehensive. I see the reason why everyone is asking him to come back. At the same time i am happy others are also there to continue helping each other.

Thanks very much.

Usually by normal post but there's someone informed in this forum to have received it by registered mail..... However, sending by e.mail is possibly rare
