How long does it take for police verification (India)?

Hi,

I went to PSK in Pune 2 weeks back and got all the formalities done. They said police verification is pending and I will receive an sms for that. But i had not enrolled for the sms service, so few days ago i visited the local police station to ask about it. They said they will send an sms themselves. But still haven't got any sms or heard anything from the local police station. I don't want to go there and repeatedly ask about it.

I read that Indian PCC is quick and you get it within a week but for me it's been 2 weeks with police verification pending. Has anyone experienced delays in this process?

When was the last time you had this Police verification done?
In some cases, it takes 2 weeks or so.

Usually, PSK issues the PCC on the same day of the appointment.

If the police verification was done in last 6 months then PCC would be issued on the same day at PSK. Else, Police verification is initiated similar to the Passport issue verification and it depends on the local police at your address to provide a report.

Few say, they get PCC on the same day even though Verification was not done in last 6 months if the address on passport is same as what is on PCC application.

But avoid providing same address as on Passport if you are not staying at that address as it might land you in issues and delay in getting a PCC by 1-3 months.

I got my Indian PCC from PSK today. It took me close to 20 calendar days to get it. My wife got it the same day of her application, we had done her PCC early in 2016, maybe that helped her. I hope this helps.

It should take 10 days approximately. That was the case with me.
