How long does it take for passports to be stamped and returned?

Hi All,
I have recently joined this forum. I currently reside in the US and am working here on H1B visa. I had applied for Express Entry Canada last year and I received an email last week to send passports to Ottawa processing centre.
I have sent the passports to the Ottawa processing centre on 11th September 2016 and the passports were received there on 12th September 2016. How long does it take for them to stamp the passports and return those?
I have heard different timelines from friends - usually in India they return the passports within a week or so. From other friends who got their Canadian PR done with the old process informed me that it will take around 4 to 5 weeks for CIC to return the passports.

Could anyone please let me know how much time does it take for CIC to return the passports if you have sent it to Ottawa Processing centre from the US?

Check my signature, I got my passport back within 3 weeks. But it's inside Canada. It takes about the same for USA as well.
@nashkelly got spouse's passport at similar time in usa as far as i remember.
