how long does it take for CIC to receive an application?

Hi guys,
I want to know how long it takes for CIC to receive an application.
By the end of November 2014, I will finish 1 year of work experience and I will become eligible for Canadian experience class. Since the immigration rules will change after January 2015, I want to make sure that my application will be received before January 1st 2015 so it will not be affected by new immigration rules. I want to know that if I prepare my documents before December 2015 and send my application by courier on December 15th, will my application be received before January 1st? (Assuming the caps for CEC is not reached). I have heard that it takes up to 2 months to receive AOR. Is the application considered “received” after the AOR is given? Or it is received when the courier delivers the application and it is stamped even though it might not be opened and checked right away? I want to ensure that my application will be assessed based on pre 2015 immigration rules.

Depends from where and how you are sending your application from. From Canada, regular posts reaches in 4-6 business days to CIC, Sydney; Xpress post in 2 business days. Check Canada Post for up to date delivery times.

In general, when they have announced a change to the CEC regulations - it applied to applications "received" (meaning: delivered to CIO-Sydney) after a certain date. The AOR date does not determine which rules apply.

When you do get your AOR, and log into eCAS, it will confirm the date that your application package arrived at the CIO, so they definitely stamp the package or track that date in some way.
