Hi guys

Currently I plan to move over to Canada under PR status (I will be applying under express entry - federal skilled worker programme)

I was just wondering if there is a time limit to pack up and move to canada (from the UK) after receiving my PR status, before the PR status is revoked?

Any advice appreciated

Regards

You must LAND in Canada as a PR, before the expiry date that will be on your COPR. This is typically around 1 year from when you did the medical exam.

After you land as a PR, you can then go back to your home country for up to 3 years less a day before you would be forced to return to Canada permanently to maintain your PR status, or else be in violation of the residency obligation.

Just to mention, if you go home for 3 years minus a day, you must then stay in Canada for the entire 2 years without leaving to ensure you meet the residency requirement. If it was 2 years you could then go back / travel outside Canada for another 364 days.

The residency requirement is 730 days, over a 5 year period, from the date of landing. So technically you could be outside 3 full years if one of the years in Canada was a leap year, I assume.
(Would anyone really want to cut it that close?)

2 out of last 5 years.
