Hi,

I am new to doing the Canadian Immigration. I have a fairly good job/position right now, but I would be interested in immigrating to Canada in the near future i.e. next year and a half or so. In case I get immigration to Canada but I want to stay in my then current job for about 6 to 8 months or so, I would want to try to delay my immigration. Is this possible? I'd be grateful to hear from those who are ahead of me in this immigration process.

Medicals:
When you get the request for medicals, how long do you have to reply back? i.e. I am sure most of you do it right away. However if I want to delay my application at this step, could I send my medicals after 2 months or so?? Is there a stipulated time period beyond which they would abandon the application?

Passport:
When you get the request for sending them your passport, how long do you have to reply back? For e.g. could I send my passport after 2 to 3 months?

Landing:
Once you have the visa issued on your passport, how long of a window do you have to land? Can you delay this by a few months?

I know that the danger in doing this is that immigration rules/laws may change. I am ready to take the risk though. I think once they request your medicals, you are set ;D.

Thank you guys for your help.
O. O.

Remember, any visa issued would expire 1 yr from date of medicals.

You can delay the meds by like 1-2 months I guess...

There are thousands waiting, so CIC doesn't give too many chances

Thank you for that information canvis2006. I can work with delaying the visa for 6 to 7 months at the most, so I would never need to delay it by more than 1 year.

To other's who have done the Medicals, Passport or Landing:

In your letter's for these things did CIC mention a timeframe for completion of these tasks??

Thank you,
O. O.

Thank you prempatel1986. I'm sorry I was a bit vague in my previous question. I actually wanted to know what timeframe was mentioned in these letters from guys more advanced in this process like you.

So prempatel1986, you seem to have done the Medical and the Passport. I'd be really really really really grateful if you could let me know what timeframe was mentioned in your letter's. I understand that this is an example, but this would help me a lot.

Thanks again & hoping to hear back from you.

Well, would suggest you to go through all steps & get visa (without delaying any step) as u mentioned that immigration rules can change anytime. Once u have got the visa first landing is mandatory before visa expiry, U can take leave from your current job & after going through this landing formality revert back to your current job. Afterwards, u can return to Canada with in next three years at your ease (inorder to manitain your PR status, you have to stay 2 out of 5 years in canada).

Hope that helps

Hi o_o,
Rightly said by Way. Look at my case. I received med request on June last year & was asked to submit med, pp & rprf by 45 days. I went for test on 36th day & the pack I sent was received by CHC ND on 42nd day. Received pp with visa on my hand on end-Jan this year. Visa expiry was 1 yr from the medical day, ie July-end 2013. I landed at Toronto 10 days before the visa expiry. It was Monday, received SIN no. at the imm counter, processing of PR & SIN card started automatically. I provided my friend's address at landing papers. Stayed there for a week & came back. Nobody asked anything while deporting. I resumed my current job at home. SIN card arrived in 20 days & the PR in around 70 days at friend's address. My friend visited his home last month & handed over my cards. Now I have time of two & half years to go. I found job scenario is not attractive for immigrants. Hope this helps.

Regards..

Thank you prempatel1986 WAY & explorer. You guys perfectly answered my questions. Your idea is very nice for me to land in Canada in case I get the visa early, and then to go back home after staying in Canada for a few days.

I deeply appreciate your help and advice :D

Medicals is 60days time frame; PPR is 15days deadline to forward Passports to VO and Landing is a year from when you did your Medicals...
Hope this helps

Thank you donwin4real for confirmation. I did not know that you can delay your landing for up to a year from the medicals. This is more than enough time for me. Actually 6 months from the medicals is more than enough in my case :)

You're welcome..
There's an expiration date on the PR visa which counts from the date of Medical Examination. You are just to make sure you Land before this expiration date and you'll be fine.

All the best
