Hello!

I got my initial study permit approval letter about a week or so ago. I’m attending a college in Ontario and I’m coming from the States.

Classes start September 2nd so I thinking about arriving either two weeks before (August 19th) or a week before classes (August 26th) just to get settled, get my SIN and or Health Card, and get some school supplies.

Thanks in advance :)

No issue. Applying for a SIN/health card doesn’t take a long time. As long as you have a place to stay and you don’t work it’s fine. If you’re moving into a residence 2 weeks is probably too long. Would warn you that at U of T I had a student who arrived from Michigan ready at 8am for a military precision mass move-in like large US colleges while Canadian schools are far less crazy. There will likely be time during frosh week to get things like SIN and a health card if you are a Canadian PR or citizen otherwise you qualify for the international student health plan. Really up to you and your family and your budget.
