I realize that you explained in a later post that you call from the road, but there has got to be a better option. We have Bell basic cable, internet and a land line with free unlimited long distance to Europe (for his family) and all of North America (for mine) and the package only costs $70 per month. That does include a 30% discount, so it really costs $100. My US cell phone plan, which I just gave up, included 500 anytime minutes, unlimited nights and weekends with free long distance to North and South America for $70. I think it's time you go shopping, my friend. She might be worth every dime, but it seems Telus is getting them all! There are better ways to spend (or save) your money.

We just switched our cell phone plan over to the "Canada Plan" which will allow me to call without long distance or roaming fees between Canada and the US. It is a bit more expensive and it really limited our minutes but I wont have to worry about a bazillion $ phone bill at the end of the month. There were other plans also for other countries with similar options - I know that we are in the US and it is different in Canada but it is definitely something to look in to .

Yeah i do got to figure something out but im hoping after the interview is done it will be just a month or two she is here, but your right allison i would rather that be in my pocket.

i mentioned in an earlier post about a 1/2 marathon: it's official! i've signed up for the toronto waterfront 1/2 marathon on 26 september!! should be interesting, it's my first! but will give me something to look forward to and occupy my time...hopefully by then we will have a better idea of when my husband can join me in canada
i'm curious to hear how others are coping with the wait. any other distractions are welcomed!!!!!

Here's something I forgot to mention. I got a library card the week I arrived. I also found meetup dot com last year shortly after I first arrived. I joined a book club, an ex-patriot American's in Toronto group, and several others. Book club and ex pat groups hold meetings once a month and this gave me something to put on the calendar and look forward to. Check it out. There is an amazing variety of groups you could join (at least in the Toronto area). You can even sponsor your own group if you want. Allison

I have this plan through Verizon. Great service. Never had an issue with it...

I'm one of the lucky ones...I work 4 days a week, and only live 1.5 hours from my wife and newborn son in Ottawa. I drive up every weekend. But being away from them both, even for a few days at a time, is incredible difficult. :(

For those that live countless miles apart, I feel for you. The wait will be well worth it, I'm sure... :)
