How do I defer my intake if I am already in Canada?

My flight is on 21st February. Intake is 16th March.

I am considering deferring to May intake so I have plenty of time to get a nice apartment, get it furnished, get internet, buy a new laptop and so on. I am planning to get the apartment by 1st April

Since I have my flight booked for 21st February and with restrictions unclear (I am referring to this 3 days hotel issue) I don't want to postpone my flight

Could I face any issue if I defer my intake to May and arrive on 21st February even if I can provide enough liquid funds? Thank you so much in advance

I'd say it depends on the border officer. At least you already have some good arguments. I'm no officer but arriving 2,5 months prior to your studies could be a little problematic. But again, I'm no officer and every case will be handled individually.
