I recently called CIC to find out that they approved me as a sponsor, they gave me my client number, and when i tried to log into ecas it won't let me.

Later I read that applicants from Quebec don't have access to ecas, since my application is moving on to the VO, does anyone know if there is a system through Quebec that tracks the applications online like CIC?

Anyone out there who in in Quebec sponsoring their spouse outland that may have some info?

Please help! not knowing the progress is going to make this much more painful...

A year ago, I was able to log into ecas to see that sponsorship was approved. But after it was transferred to the VO, it was not updated with any new information, which I heard was normal.

I'm applying trough Quebec, and no updates on ecas for me! But I've been informed that they have already done the background check and checked medicals. I'm at the end of my application, just needed to pay RPRF for it to complete. But no update on ecas, guess it's normal then ?!

Applicants from Quebec absolutely do have access to e-cas, I don't know where you read that. If you're not able to log in to e-cas (without the client ID and visa number provided by CPCM, you can still use the receipt number that you have when you printed out the receipt showing you paid the fees), it's either because you're not active in e-cas yet or you did not put in the correct information. Sign up for e-cas tracker and give them all the info on your case so it can email you when it is able to log you in. You also save a lot of time manually checking that way.

Unless your application has reached the federal level you won't be able to check your status in e-cas. However once you have received your CSQ and you're already dealing with the Canadian embassy they will give you a UCI and an application number in which you can track on their website. Good luck!

It's not specifically the federal level, it's when sponsorship approval is complete and the PR portion is sent to the VO that e-cas should become available to the client. The OP's timeline states that the file was transfered to the VO Nov. 17th. Obviously, the Quebec sponsorship approval (that's essentially what the CSQ is) comes in between these two steps. However, things are not immediately put on hold from CIC's point of view for the applicant to apply for the CSQ. They still forward the file to the visa office and the visa office does begin to work on it. Now, eventually they will ask for the CSQ because they will not finalize your file and ask for the passport to issue visa without the CSQ, but applying for and getting the CSQ has nothing to do with getting a Client ID, which is on the sponsorship approval letter from CPCM (along with the visa file number).

Well at least once you deal with the Canadian embassy you can start tracking your application. I can see we have different POV here since we have different visa application type but in my case it was because I applied for QSW. I can see that you've applied under family visa so it would really vary with the ones applying for QSW :)

Good luck to everyone!

Well, OP is applying under the Family Class stream, which is why I wrote that.

From the CIC website, I got the following answer on the Frequently Asked Questions

Q17: If I made an application to immigrate to Quebec, can I view my application status through CAS?
A17: No. Quebec is responsible for selecting immigrants wishing to settle within Quebec, and it does so separately from Immigration Canada. Therefore, CAS will not be available to you.
Please visit the Quebec Immigration Web site for more information regarding Quebec immigration.

https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/redir.do;jsessionid=DF141F2105CDF1640B4170739A310F20?redir=faq_ecas&lang=en&app=ecas#Q17

On the other hand, I am not sure now if this refers to immigrating period, or if is different for sponsorship cases.

I called CIC and MICC and they both told me there was no access to the online system for the Quebec applicants.

I tried to log into ecas with my client ID number and nothing.

Thanks for all thouse trying to help :D

I saw that on CIC website, don't know what they are talking about, I'm applying trough Quebec also, and I can check e-cas just fine!

My wife is sponsoring me. when using her client i.d and her details, shows her information.
When I enter my file number, with my details, it shows my information, application received, medicals received etc etc.. works just fine! (but I don't rely that much on e-cas)

It worked!

I finally was able to access it, however, there are no more updates other than me being approved as a sponsor.

Do you know if they updated it when the VO receives the papers?

Well in my case, when I enter my wife's details and client i.d number, it only shows that she has been approved as a sponsor.

But when I enter my details, with the file number, it shows application received on the VO,medicals received,etc..keeps on updating..

This refers to the CSQ processing for a given case (the approval of the sponsorship undertaking by Quebec rather than the federal gov't), which you cannot see on CIC's website (nor on MICC's). The original question, as I understood it, was whether a PR application presented to CIC could be tracked via e-CAS if the applicant planned to reside in Quebec. The answer to that is yes.
