hi all,

i was about to come to canada and look for a job and sponsor my wife and my kid.
but looking at the posts seems like it will take more than an year ....to get PR for my wife and kid..

its just feels sad and i am into state like " how i am going to survive / live away from my family in india " ?

is it how everyone do ?
is there no other way ?

i am really upset :(

pls share ur thoughts ?

You must have to muster on and think of the long term happiness

If you are a PR,at present living in your country, try to maintain your PR status and find a job to settle down with your family. If you succeed in your attempt to take care of your family in Canada, then you can sponsor your spouse and child. If you cannot stay away from your family for a period till you settle down in Canada, perhaps you may have to overcome lot of impediments and also may need huge amount of money to survive.

You are looking at the whole picture and thus feel the way you feel.

Actually, a sponsorship process is split into two. First step is, CIC must determine that you are eligible to sponsor your spouse and kids (you have valid status, skills and income etc). This process takes about 2 months. Once this process is cleared, the file goes to the local visa office where your spouse resides. It is this stage that takes longer.

Once you have cleared the first stage, its only a matter of time before a visa is issued to your spouse/kids. In the meantime, they could apply for a TRV (visit visa to come and stay with your for up to six months (this could be extended further).

Thanks a lot for reply.

I was thinking that i can take them in visitor visa, however looks like that option is not possible any time.

Wish everyone who has applied get soon and be with their family.

Thanks

sorry i couldnt get this one...

1) get all the documents of them ( wife and kid ) and apply from canada - apply for PR
2) wait for 2 months ..1st stage completed..
3) Apply for TRV ?? is it visitor visa ?

You are correct. But first you must come to Canada. A PR can start the sponsorship process only when (s)he is in Canada (and would stay in Canada throughout the process). TRV is a visit visa (Temporary Resident Visa - as it is called).

TRV are issued to persons who are not likely to overstay their visa expiry date. Hence ties back to the home country is important. However, after you are approved as a sponsor, when your wife applies for TRV it would show a 'dual intent' - that she/they would stay with you to wait out the PR process. Hence it is important that your wife/kids apply for TRV AFTER your sponsorship is approved. This is not out of the ordinary and a lot of people do that.

wow...thats makes me worry little :) than...i had pictured before this post.

thanks a lot once again for taking ur time..and replying...

appreciate it..
