Hello everyone,

I have been waiting for 7 weeks for my CAQ to be processed. I just received a message that says my CAQ has been received and it's going to be processed now.

My baccalaureat course starts on the 29th of August and, even though I have the letter of acceptance of the university in question (École Polytechnique de Montréal), I guess I will be needing a study permit for that day. Since one of the things they ask for processing a study permit is my CAQ, I don't know how am I going to be able to have my study permit in time. Is there any way I can get my study permit in time?

Thanks in advance to everyone who answers,
Pablo

PS: I'm applying from Spain. Theoretically, the processing time for a Study Permit is 2 weeks.

Since you are studying in Quebec, you must have the CAQ to apply for a study permit. If they process your CAQ quickly - it's certainly possible you may have your study permit in time. You cannot begin studying until your study permit has been approved.

You should wait for the decision letter

I received the decision letter 3 weeks after "Receipt of your document" appear on my online file.

The total processing time is about 11 weeks (from 22nd of April to 28th of June).

Perhaps they are dealing with a lots of application.

Good luck :)

Thanks to both of you. I'm worried and I think that maybe I should be. I don't see how can I accelerate things.

In the MyCIC application it says "Students who want to study in Québec have the option to submit an approval letter from the Ministère de l’immigration et des Communautés culturelles (MICC) instead of the CAQ. Approval letters are sent by MICC to applicants before the CAQ is issued.".

Has anyone done this? I would like to know how much time it takes.

Don't apply online, go to the Canadian embassy in Paris, if you bring all the documents and the papers filled you're likely to get the Study permit in minutes.

Thanks for answering Frisk. I'll consider that option too.

Is the Study Permit necessary to enter Canada? Or only to study? Will they ask for it at the airport?

@undostres2411, Can you please give me the steps to file for my CAQ after logging into my account?
