How can i do an internship as our school doesn’t offer me a coop letter

Hey guys I really need your help here!
I am a third year international student and I am only available to work full time during the holidays but I currently found an internship job but my university doesn’t require a coop to graduate, and they won’t give me a coop letter due to my 2.998 GPA(they require 3.0 minimum) can I apply for a work permit in order to work on that internship?
