You can't. You need your file number or UCI.

receipt numbers generally don't work. usually it's only the uci and file numbers that work.

Not true because that's what I use to this day, I actually memorized it because I had that way before uci and application number and it's always work for me, I used that with my husbands date of birth and country of birth
There's nothing wrong with him at least trying.

It won't work if the app isn't in process yet but if it is it should.

that's why i said generally and usually. of course it doesn't hurt trying. my response is so the OP doesn't freak out if it doesn't work since most people can't sign in with receipt numbers. usually if a receipt number works, i'd assume it's because that person has had an application with cic before.

Not sure why it works for some and not for others. I didn't have an application with them before and neither have the other people that I know that sign in this way. CIC is unreliable so who knows.

Since the CIC requires payment online now, and the old receipt form (IMM 5401) method is no longer available, I presume only those who have used that old form can make the site work...

I paid online for our application just last week and printed the receipt, but neither the receipt number and reference number work on the "check your application status" page. Seems like I will have to wait for the AOR to receive the actual UCI number.

yeah, your application isn't even opened yet technically, so there's not going to be any record of it on ECAS. Some people can access it after AOR, most can access after Sponsor approval.
